USS JALLAO SS-368 Reunion

Our next Jallao reunion will be in the Spring of 2005 in the Groton/New London area. Jerry Emerson is heading up the reunion committee and has things well in hand. There will be a planning meeting in New London this December. Check with Jerry for details. All are welcome to attend. It will be great to see our old home port again! May 22 – 24, 2003 at Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Join your ex-shipmates and renew friendships at our USS JALLAO reunion in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and the USS COBIA SS-245. You will also have the opportunity to see the original launch site of the USS JALLAO.

We have rooms blocked at the "Inn on Maritime Bay" located in Manitowoc right down by Lake Michigan and next to the USS COBIA (SS245). Our rates are $59. / Night plus 11% tax. Call and make your reservations early. The room rate will be extended three days before the reunion and three days after, if you care to come early or stay on a few days. On Friday morning, May 23^rd, reunion attendees will attend a memorial ceremony for the USS LAGARTO SS371. In the afternoon we will visit the

Wisconsin Maritime Museum and take a guided tour thru the COBIA at no cost. You must be wearing your JALLAO reunion nametag for entry. On Saturday we will visit the original launch site of the JALLAO.

Manitowoc is about 175 miles north of Chicago, most all interstate driving.

From I-43, take exit 152 east onto Rte 42 and follow Rte 42 (four miles) to Maritime Drive at the lakeshore area. Turn right and go south one mile to the Inn on Maritime Bay at 101 Maritime Drive on your left.

If you plan to fly, the best way is to fly to Green Bay and then rent a car for the trip to Manitowoc (about 40 miles).

If you travel by RV, there are RV accommodations at the Manitowoc County Expo. They have water and electric hookups and a dump station - - $15/day.

From I-43 take exit 149 and go east just a short distance. Left (north) on to Rapids Rd (also County Rd R) and go ½ mile to the Expo Drive entrance. Reservations are not required. This is four miles from our hotel.

Caps, polo shirts and other Submarine memorabilia will be available for purchase in our hospitality room. Also, the gift shop in the museum has many Submarine related items, including a must read book, "Fresh Water Submarines".

You may bring your photo albums and/or other JALLAO memorabilia for "show and tell" and we will try to have tables set up to display them. PLEASE put an address sticker somewhere on your items so the owner can be identified.

There will be a few open periods in our schedule so you can visit the shops and stores in downtown Manitowoc. The ladies will be most interested in the Cooks Corner Factory Outlet.

CANCELLATION POLICY Please understand that most of the arrangements for this reunion must be made in advance and costs are dependent on our expected number of attendees. Should you need to cancel, we cannot refund your registration fee, although we will mail your registration packet which includes your cap and commemorative pin.
