A couple of reminders; If you bring any memorabilia items, please be sure to have your name and return address attached, we will have a lockable room to display all memorabilia. Next, there is a possibility that we may be able to tour a submarine, so be sure to have at least one(1) form of picture ID. Jerry Emerson March 10, 2005 Our schedule is filling in, we may get a boat tour, it is still too early to predict, but we are still working on it. USS Jallao SS368 2005 Reunion update
Reunion Coordinator:
Had a very productive meeting on 29 Dec. 2004 with George Costantino, Luie Duran, Jim Adams. I met separately with Lenny Caruso and than with the Manager of the Radisson hotel. Things are coming together, At the registration desk we will have various sign up sheet to ask for volunteers to help with the hospitality room, squaring away the Adm Fife recreation area after the picnic. Will have a DJ at the banquet along with other events.
One item on the registration table will be a sign up sheet for crewmembers that want to relate, retell an old sea story about their experience on Jallao. I know that there are a lot of them out there, some true, some not so true. This will be during the banquet on Friday. We will not have a professional photographer for any of the events. so all you amateurs with the expensive equipment can have fun taking photos and videos and putting them on the Jallao web site so the rest of us can enjoy them. We will have a formal ceremony at the SubVets memorial, which the local chapter will conduct and than lunch at their club the lunch will be about $6. I encourage all crewmembers that are members of SubVets bring your vests for this event.
As of 10 January 2005 these are the crewmembers that I have paid registration for: JIM ADAMS, WILLIAM BAILEY, BRUCE BRADBURY, TOM BURKE, FRANK CONTI, JERRY EMERSON, AL FERDINANDSEN, JOHN MILLS, MARK GLAEDY, PAT WALSH, GEORGE COSTANTINO, JOHN HANNIFORD, ROBERT ZANG. I WILL ADD NAMES ABOUT EVERY TWO (2) WEEKS.

We had a good meeting in CT. on December 29th at George Costantino’s home. Seven crewmembers attended, George Costantino, Luis Duran, Jim Adams, Frank Conti, Harry Shuris, Bill Allen and myself. It was a good turn out and meeting. Again thanks to George and his wife Pat First of all we discussed dates and decided on two possibilities. The week of May 17th or the week of May 26th – 2005. One Two May 17th (Tuesday) Early check in May 26th - Thursday May 18th (Wednesday) Day 2 check in May 27th - Friday May 19th (Thursday) Day 3 May 28th - Saturday May 20th (Friday) Banquet May 29th - Sunday May 21st (Saturday) Check out May 30 – Monday (Memorial Day) These are two sets of dates for crewmembers traveling a great distance. I would like all crewmembers to read this update and email me with your preference. I will establish the dates based on the results of input from crewmembers that I receive before March 1, 2004. I will set the dates and publish on the web site by the March 10, 2004. Other Items: Jim Adams will be working on ID badges. We are looking at having a catered ships picnic. We would like some type of memorial service at the Groton Submarine Memorial and other sightseeing tours. It may not be possible to tour any submarine but we are still working on that. Have information on hotels and waiting for more information to determine cost. Again a productive meeting but remember I need your input on the dates. Thank you, Jerry Emerson

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next: USS Jallao SS 368 Reunion Reunion Co-coordinator: Jerry L. Emerson 25 June 2003 Hi to all my Jallao shipmates and friends, about one month has passed since our great first reunion in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. At the meeting of Jallao crew I volunteered to organize the next reunion and the majority indicated that I set the time and place for the second reunion. After talking with many of you during the winding down of the banquet and the next day, various e-mails to the webmaster, who forwarded them to me, the majority of you have indicated the next reunion should be in Groton Ct. I agree; therefore for advance planning purposes, the next reunion will be held in Groton/New London, Connecticut during the spring of 2005. I travel to the Groton area about once a year, still have many friends and relatives in the area. So far two shipmates have sent me info on the area and I thank them for the info. I will try to place something on the web site about every month. Earl Johnson has established a checking account at the First National Bank in Pontotoc, Mississippi. A little info on me, I retired in 1977 as a Chief Quartermaster. I served on six submarines and had a tour as instructor at the Sub Base, worked at Electric Boat on the Trident and 688 class boats. Moved to North Carolina in 1995 and am semi-retired. Served onboard Jallao from 1960 to 1963 and qualified onboard in 1961. I think a person’s first submarine is like the first of many things for a person, very important in that person’s life. We live in Wilson NC, which is about 50 miles east of Raleigh, Just off I-95. Anyone passing this way, give me a call and will try to set up a meeting for lunch, dinner Etc. I may be contacted by any of the following: Jerry L. Emerson 2409 Womble ST SW Wilson, NC 27893
